Formed in 2019, Westmoreland Pollinator Partners (WPP) is a group of 25 nonprofit organizations, parks, schools, and community gardens dedicated to promoting, protecting, and preserving pollinators and their habitats.  Learn why our pollinators are so crucial to a healthy and diverse ecosystem and see how WPP members are raising awareness and conserving pollinator-friendly habitats as you take a delightful visual tour of the beautiful and inviting pollinator-friendly gardens in our county.


Attracting Butterflies to Your Garden

This presentation will teach you all about five different local butterflies (including the Monarch butterfly) using photos of their different life stages (egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and adult). The caterpillar host plants, and adult nectar plants will also be discussed so that you will know how to attract these butterflies to your garden!

Facilitated by Pam Israel, from "Unlock Your History," and Robert Stakeley, from the Heinz History Center, this discussion-based, and hands-on one-hour program will weave together how heirlooms, genealogy, translation, and history come together to demonstrate how your personal story matters.  The presenters will dig into the #1-claimed heritage in the US (per 2000 Census), German, with insight into the history and some of the unique challenges in understanding these letters and other documents. Learn about the documents that might be in your home, and how you can better understand their contents.  The presenters will discuss how anyone can decipher clues hidden within documents and provide guidance on when to get more help.  You’ll also learn about options to better care for your personal artifacts.
