The Murrysville Parks and Recreation Foundation supports the programs and facilities of the Murrysville Parks and Recreation Departments.
To fulfill our mission, the Foundation solicits funds through grants, gifts and donations to enhance existing facilities and to develop new parks and recreation programs, services, facilities and technology.

Chalk the Walk Event
Join us at Murrysville Community Park on Saturday, May 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to Chalk the Walk! Help us to spread cheer, optimism, creativity and community spirit through your chalk drawings by decorating a section of the walking trail. Your $10.00 donation to this event benefits the Murrysville Parks and Recreation Foundation and provides you a 4’ x 4’ space on the trail to create your masterpiece. Chalk will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Proceeds benefit the Foundation’s trail painting project at MCP. Registration is required; reserve your square here. Meet our Members
The Foundation consists of a seven-member Board of Directors, including one council member, the Mayor, the Director of Finance, the Director of Parks and Recreation, a liaison from the Murrysville Parks and Recreation Commission, and two residents at large.
John Kaye, President
John Kaye is the Chief Operating Officer for the Endowment at the University of Pittsburgh. John and his wife, Kim Anderson, an accounting professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, moved to Murrysville in 1995. John and Kim have two daughters, Meg and Stella, who have grown up in Murrysville and have frequently taken advantage of the wonderful parks that Murrysville has to offer. Kim frequently took the girls to the various parks for play dates when they were young, and they all witnessed the growth and development of Murrysville Community Park during soccer-playing days. Today, the entire family enjoys the parks for walks, runs, frisbee, or simply to watch the sunrise or sunset.
Dave Metzgar, Vice President and
Parks and Recreation Commission Liaison:
Dave Metzgar has been a resident of Murrysville for almost 25 years along with his wife, Dana, a high school English teacher at Franklin Regional. They have 2 daughters and and have had many dogs over the years, and all of the family members have enjoyed the many parks of Murrysville. After many years of volunteering in the parks, he joined the Parks and Recreation Commission in 2017 and currently enjoys the Foundation board, as well.
Paul has worked in Finance in Pittsburgh for over 30 years and is currently the Director of Operations – Pittsburgh for Sly Fox Brewing Company. Paul and his wife, Mary Beth, moved to Murrysville in 2000. All three of their children graduated from Franklin Regional High School, (Mary Beth did as well), and Penn State University. Paul also volunteers for the Westmoreland County Food Bank and the Murrysville Meals on Wheels. Paul is honored to be able to contribute to the Murrysville community and its parks and recreation departments.
Diane Heming, Treasurer
Originally from Greensburg, Pa, Diane has worked in Finance with the municipality for 25 years. She enjoys crafts, kayaking, and is often seen volunteering at the recreation department events throughout the year. Diane is delighted for the opportunity to see this Foundation grow for the betterment of the parks and recreation departments.
Carly Greene, Secretary
After serving ten years active duty in the Marine Corps, Carly returned home and earned her degree in Resort Recreation Management and Tourism from Slippery Rock University. She was then fortunate to begin her civilian career with the Murrysville Recreation Department in 2011. Camping, hiking and biking on the local Rails-to-Trails, and kayaking are just a few of Carly’s recreational pursuits. During work she enjoys fostering community relationships and providing a variety of recreational opportunities in the variety of parks that Murrysville has to offer. She is excited to work with such a great team to advance the importance of parks and recreation.

Mayor Regis Synan
Mayor Regis Synan currently serves as Mayor for Murrysville and resides here with his wife, Diane. He enjoys a variety of recreational pursuits including hunting, fishing, travel, and is frequently found visiting community events and walking in Murrysville’s many parks, reserves and trails. His proven experience with non-profit organizations will be an asset to this board, as well.
