Veterans' and Emergency Services Monument
Murrysville Community Park's Veterans' and Emergency Services monument honors those who have served and are serving our country and community. Completed in 2010, the granite monument boasts logos of all branches of service and our community's emergency service departments. Vermont granite pavers are available by donation to honor a loved one at this beautiful memorial.
See below for information about ordering a paver to honor your service member.
Ordering an Engraved Memorial Paver
Consider remembering a loved one or saluting our veterans, active duty, reserve, and emergency services personnel with an engraved memorial granite paver at the Veterans’ and Emergency Services Monument at Murrysville Community Park. What a wonderful tribute! For a $100.00 contribution, your paver will be engraved and installed for years of enjoyment and honor at the Memorial. Please call the Recreation Department for more information or complete a Paver Form. Once the form is received and approved, applicant will be prompted for payment before engraving and installation will begin.
Veterans’ Field Memorial
Veterans’ Field on Sardis Road is familiar to many in the community because of lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, and picnics but probably few are aware that it gets its name from the Korean and Vietnam War Veterans’ Memorial that stands proudly at the edge of the field.
The Kiwanis Club made this beautiful memorial possible in 1998 but now, unfortunately, the local Kiwanis Club no longer operates. Over time the memorial fell into disrepair and the majority of the names memorialized on the bricks were no longer legible.
The Murrysville Recreation Department worked with community volunteers and veterans to restore the memorial. The bricks were replaced with Vermont Granite Pavers and all of the names were engraved onto the new pavers. This project couldn't have happened without so many dedicated volunteers and veterans.
Members of the Veterans' Ministry and volunteers from Murrysville Alliance Church, and American Legion Post 711 in Murrysville were instrumental in ensuring this memorial was restored to honor the veterans memorialized here. Supplies and concrete were donated from local businesses.
