Real Estate Tax Payments are due by December 31.
Any payments made after that date will be remitted to Westmoreland County and deemed delinquent for collection purposes. Penalties and interest will be assessed on those delinquent accounts beginning on January 1. To avoid becoming delinquent, please remit your payments to Keystone Collections PRIOR TO DECEMBER 31ST.
Real Estate Taxes
Real estate taxes are levied on properties located in the Municipality of Murrysville by three taxing bodies. Westmoreland County, the Municipality of Murrysville and the Franklin Regional School District. Each parcel of land and any structures are assessed by Westmoreland County. Real estate taxes are based on that assessed value. These revenues are used to support general operations of the municipality, provide emergency services and road improvements, and to pay down debt service.
The Municipality of Murrysville's real estate millage is 12.05 mills which is applied to the assessed value of the property. For example: If a home in Murrysville has an assessed value of $10,000, the real estate taxes due for that property would be $120.00.
Spring taxes for the County and Municipality are mailed out in late March.

Real Estate Transfer Tax
Effective Jan. 1, 2022, the Real Estate Transfer Tax will increase from 1.0% to 1.5%. The Municipality will retain 1% and the remaining .50% will be remitted to the Franklin Regional School District. Realtors should note this change on any documents they share with potential buyers and sellers in the Municipality of Murrysville.
